Trauma

Trauma_QuotePeople come into my office with many different experiences of trauma. When trauma is understood alongside grief, it creates space to process loss and move forward in a way that allows life to feel fuller again.

I recognize that not dealing with those experiences that have happened as a child or adult can start to influence other areas of life.

When a traumatic event is not fully integrated in your body you can start to have headaches, flash backs, unpredictable emotions, or strained relationships to name a few symptoms. Ordinary situations can start to feel overwhelming and what was once considered normal functioning for you can start to feel like a strain. When you have not dealt with a traumatic event you can start to sense tension not only in your emotions but also in your body.

When addressing trauma, you will learn to recognize the difference between past experiences and what is happening in the present. Therapy helps you become more aware of your body’s responses and how to listen to them as you work through trauma. You will gain new tools to cope with what has happened, allowing you to live life more fully.
